⭐ Sponsor Spotlight: Harlow Bros
A New Partner Supporting the Soapbox Challenge and Rainbows Hospice
When it comes to finding suppliers who communicate clearly, get things done and genuinely understand what “working together” means, Harlow Bros have quickly become a standout new partner for Venture Play. Their sponsorship is helping support our Nottingham Super Soapbox Challenge entry and raise funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
Anyone who has worked with Harlow Bros will know exactly why — they’re responsive, reliable and refreshingly straightforward. Even in a short time, that trust and ease of communication has already made a real difference.
🚦 A Story That Says Everything (and One We’ll Never Let Scott Forget)
We couldn’t introduce Harlow Bros without sharing the moment that told us exactly what kind of person Scott is — and why we enjoy working with him.
Let’s just say: if any of our Soapbox drivers start complaining about bumps or bruises on race day… Scott is the wrong person to complain to.
He’s collected more injuries than our Soapbox has bolts:
- A snapped tibia and fibula
- A broken arm
- And the unforgettable broken thumb set in a full straight cast, leaving him unintentionally giving the “OK” sign to strangers everywhere he went
It remains one of our favourite stories — and confirms he wins the “most dramatic injury” award among this year’s sponsors.
Thankfully, his approach to work is far less hazardous.
🛠️ A Supplier Who Already Feels Like Part of the Team
Although a newer partner, Harlow Bros have already shown why they’re so highly respected within the industry. They’ve been:
- Reliable with communication
- Consistent with service
- Supportive, proactive and easy to work with
Their team have also helped tailor key items — such as our wooden pales — to the precise finish we needed. Getting that level of quality consistently has been a huge help.
It’s a partnership that just works.
🌈 Why This Partnership Matters
Scott and his team recognised the importance of supporting Rainbows Hospice, a charity delivering life‑changing care to children, young people and families across the East Midlands.
Every sponsor makes a difference, and we’re genuinely grateful to have Harlow Bros joining the community of businesses supporting Rainbows this year.
👋 Getting to Know Scott
Scott is one of those people you instantly find easy to work with — down‑to‑earth, genuine and passionate about doing things properly. He has worked in the timber industry for 29 years, after starting at 18 to fund a lads’ holiday to Ibiza… and never left the trade.
He still loves the relationships he’s built, the problem‑solving, and helping customers find solutions using his deep timber knowledge.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys family time, football, running and anything that raises the adrenaline — caving, parachute jumps, zip‑lines, theme parks (including the fastest roller‑coaster in the world).
His next challenge? Wing walking — which he insists Will (our Operations Director) may be brave enough to join him for.

🪵 A Company With Values — And an Important Milestone
A standout part of the Harlow Bros story is that in 2022, the company became an Employee‑Owned Trust — similar to models used by brands like John Lewis and Go Ape.
The Harlow family (three brothers — hence “Harlow Bros”) wanted to secure:
- The family values the business was built on
- A shared future for the employees
- Long‑term stability and continuity for the company
It’s a milestone they’re incredibly proud of and a key part of their identity today.
